Lingering at the table and swapping stories with loved ones can bring us closer together, even in these divided times. Let's celebrate the true spirit of the season, where community and connection light our way to peace and unity.
Today, I'm filled with joy as I travel to be with my recently graduated, working daughters. Alongside my bride, we get to spend this holiday season together, cherishing the moments that truly matter. As I reflect on past years, the theme of this season becomes clear: regardless of faith, the shared experience is one of community coming together.
We make time to linger at the table, savoring that extra slice of pie, and listen to music that brings back memories of family, friends, and fellowship. These moments remind us of the importance of connection and the joy that comes from being with loved ones.
In a year where many are divided by political differences, I am reminded that the path to unity lies in extending a hand, opening our minds and hearts, and embracing the light of the season that brings peace and warmth. It's in these simple acts of kindness and understanding that we can find our way back to each other.
In this spirit, here are some ideas you can consider taking:
Reach Out: Take a moment to call or visit someone you haven't connected with in a while. A simple gesture can mean the world.
Share a Meal: Invite friends or family over for a meal. Sharing food is a timeless way to build and strengthen bonds.
Listen and Reflect: Spend time listening to others' stories and experiences. Reflect on the common threads that unite us all.
Spread Kindness: Perform a random act of kindness. It can be as simple as a smile or a helping hand.
Let's embrace the spirit of the season and make a conscious effort to bring our communities closer together.

Thanks Bill and I'm so glad you and your family got to spend time together. You'll remember that this time last year we were so pleased to be together after Sandy's operation and I'm pleased to say she's had her first review and it looks ok . Increasingly family do get spread wider distances but to have a few days where we come together and reconnect in person is special. On Christmas Day we spent time with our daughter and her family and took pleasure in being with them and especially our grandson who to me symbolises the joy and innocence of Christmas time. The following day we had my other daughter and her husband as well as my mother and its nice to have the different generations together and chatting. I do wonder how we can take those four themes and weave them more into our lives throughout the year and not just Christmas - a thought or resolution for 2025.
